NRD episod

This is just my personal opinion based on my personal experiences with the National Registration Dept.(NRD). After Ezra was born on the 7 november 2008, my husband went to register his birth. Without suspecting anything, he assumed the task would be done in a few minutes. But what happened that day was not what he expected. The officer in charge refused to register our baby as our marriage was not recorded eventhough we have the original certificate. How can this be? We never have any problems with our two other kids. The officer asked my husband to bring me to sign a form the next day.

So, the next day I had to go with my husband and all our children to the office. My husband came prepared with all the documents and the appropriate Acts to counter-argue any problems that would prevent Ezra from being registered. But, it turned out to be easy and the officer, after having discussed with her boss, suddenly registered our baby without any need of me to sign or prove anything. If I could have known, I wouldn't have come to the office that day. I was only discharged from the hospital for a few days!! My stitch (as I have only one) still hurt.

I was very frustrated over that episod. In truth, the NRD should have registered any baby born in this country without any needs to ask for the marriage certificate. What is their agenda in doing so?
We have the marriage certificate but apparently they didn't update it online. What is more puzzling, when i checked my status using my 'Mykad', i was registered as married. So, where's the details of my marriage? Somebody must have missed something somewhere.

  1. I don't understand why the NRD making a big fuss of nothing. Wonder why they care whether parents have marriage certificates or not. Read more of the NRD's malpractice on www.northborneoherald.blogspot.com
